Denver metro dog parks

Denver Wags lists locations and reviews for dog parks in the Denver metro area. One dog park entry fuels several different sections of the site. A dog park entry will automatically fill in the location in the Google Maps. As users interact with maps, the icons can be clicked to view a full review of the dog park (when available). The content is also tagged if it has a small dog park, and a separate map is generated for those with small breed dogs. The website takes advantage of some of the complex features of a content management system.

Denver metro thrift store reviews and locations

Denver Thrift proved to be a challenge in how to organize the data. There are so many choices. Do you organize by city, by store, non-profit vs. for profit stores?
We decided to arrange the menu by store. If someone is a big fan of ARC thrift stores for example, they can quickly see where they are located. There is one central review for the stores (such as one review for all ARC’s) as the experience is generally the same based off of the store brand.

Because it was decided to make a menu off of the store names, this led to a lot of menu items. We went with the two tiered navigation menu. It was a tough choice between that and a vertical navigation menu, however the two tiered design was closer to the old Denver Thrift website so that won the coin toss. The blue color was also sampled off of the old site.

A simple design was chosen for Denver Thrift, and the information on the site was recently concentrated. The site used to list baby and children thrift stores as well. However, it was deemed that the addition of these stores was more of a distraction than value adding information. They may be added again, but no time in the near future.
